HOLLYWOOD — How would Robert Blake have murdered his ex-wife (if he’d done it)? How would Michael Jackson have molested kids (if he’d done it)? How would the LAPD have beaten Rodney King (if they’d done it)? How about Scott Peterson or Phil Spector? If We Did It reveals all about the controversial cases.
This no-holds-barred book, and the soon-to-be-aired TV interview, stems from the most controversial court cases to arise from the dregs of Hollywood.
The brainchild of Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp., and published by Harper Collins/Regan Books, If We Did It includes a special forward by ex-president Bill Clinton, in which he describes how he would’ve had sex with Monica Lewinsky (if he would’ve done it).
"How would the LAPD have beaten Rodney King (if they’d done it)? This book is essentially an anthology of confessions."
“We’re going to tell you a story you've never heard before,” the controversial book begins, “because no one knows these stories the way we know them. We want you to forget everything you think you know, because a) reason, intuition, eyewitness accounts, and video can be vague and misleading, and b) with no memory of those events, we’re sure you’ll be convinced of our innocence.”
If We Did It has already ignited a storm of pre-publication debate. Fox Broadcasting said it would air a two-part taped interview with Robert Blake, Michael Jackson, Scott Peterson, Phil Spector and ex-LAPD police officer Laurence Powell. The interview, to be conducted by Judith Regan, publisher of the book, is scheduled to air in conjunction with the book’s publication date.
If We Did It covers a wide swath of history, and even claims to publish confessional accounts by such notorious Hollywood figures as Fatty Arbuckle and the Black Dahlia murderer.
Whether you condone such marketing ventures or not, If We Did It is sure to be a popular book through the Christmas shopping season and beyond.
